What Changes for 2027
Here is the thing most 2027 pages will not tell you plainly: the Chinese Gender Chart itself does not change. It is the same grid of ages and months it has been for centuries, and anyone selling you a "new 2027 chart" is selling you the old one. The chart below is identical to the 2026 version.
What genuinely does change each year is the Lunar New Year date, and that changes the answer. The method depends on your lunar age and the lunar month you conceived in, and both are anchored to the start of the lunar year. In 2027 that anchor is February 6, which begins the Year of the Goat. In 2026 it was February 17. Those eleven days are enough to shift a conception into a different lunar month, and a different lunar month can flip the prediction.
There is one more consequence worth understanding, because it is where nearly everyone goes wrong. January 2027 is not in the 2027 lunar year. If you conceived between January 1 and February 5, 2027, you are still in the tail end of the previous lunar year, and your lunar age is the one you held before February 6. The Gregorian year on the calendar is not what the chart reads.

How Accurate Is It?
About 50%, which is to say no better than guessing. That is worth stating plainly on a page like this one, because "2027" in a title tends to imply some fresh insight, and there is none. A 1999 study in the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology examined 2.8 million births and found the chart correct roughly half the time, exactly what chance predicts for a method that always returns an answer.
That is not a reason to skip it. It is a lovely, centuries old tradition and a nice way to pass the waiting weeks with your partner or at a baby shower. Just hold it lightly.
